Artistic Statement
My purpose as an artist and mover is to produce and perform work outside the typical boundaries that serve a purpose rather than to achieve perfection. I value the nonlinearity of the creative process by giving into the rise and fall of finding my artistic voice and taking artistic liberty to bring my genuine and authentic self to each work as I evolve.
Hi! Thank you for visiting my site! As an artist, mover, and choreographer, I value taking risks and producing work outside the typical boundaries that are comfortable and familiar. I work to explore beyond the walls of my unknown to find authenticity and originality within my work. I find worth in crafting or performing a piece that aligns with my vision, goals, and values with a positive mindset, working towards movement that serves a purpose rather than perfection. Through my work and performance, I use dance as a universal language to communicate, inspire, connect, and make the audience feel something through their interpretation of the movement. My movement allows me to speak out to be recognized and heard. As an artist with a versatile background, I join the certainty of specific techniques that feel at home within my body with an unpredictability of creativity within unconventional movements and improvisation to create work that stands on its own. I embrace my naturalistic movement through the creative process but welcome its manipulation. One of my mentors always reminds me, “What is not shared is lost,” so through my work as an artist, dancer, and choreographer, my purpose is to foster a community in which I can openly share my dance experiences and be a sponge to others’ to mature as an artist and be more holistic in my movement practices not putting myself or others into specific boxes. Through being comfortable with being uncomfortable, I accept the nonlinearity of the creative process by giving into the rise and fall of finding my artistic voice and taking artistic liberty to bring my genuine self to each work as I evolve.
